Business Development Consultant

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an energetic and motivated Business Development Consultant to join a well-established and growing training provider, specialising in delivering high-quality apprenticeship programmes within the early years and childcare sector. This is a chance to join a supportive, forward-thinking team where your contribution will directly help learners start their careers and employers find the right talent.

Whilst your base will be in Birmingham, you’ll support apprenticeship opportunities as far as Leeds. The role has more of a contact-centre feel, where relationship building, communication, and proactive engagement with employers are key.


You’ll be joining a passionate business development team, tasked with identifying and nurturing employer partnerships, creating apprenticeship vacancies, and ensuring learners are placed into suitable and sustainable roles.

Main Purpose

As a Business Development Consultant, you will be at the heart of connecting apprentices with nurseries and employers, creating meaningful opportunities that benefit everyone involved. The role is largely based in Birmingham with a hybrid working arrangement, including the option to work from home on Fridays.

Responsibilities

  • Generate and manage relationships with employers, particularly within nurseries, to identify apprenticeship opportunities.
  • Proactively contact potential employers via calls, networking, and online engagement to create new business leads.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams to align learners with suitable workplace opportunities.
  • Manage apprenticeship vacancies from initial contact through to placement, ensuring both employer and learner are fully supported.
  • Prepare learners for interviews and guide them through the employment process.
  • Monitor ongoing learner and employer relationships to ensure long-term success.
  • Accurately complete all compliance paperwork prior to learners starting their roles.
  • Consistently achieve and exceed monthly targets (with progression bonuses linked to learner starts).

What We’re Looking For

  • Candidates with prior business development, sales, or recruitment experience.
  • A bubbly, charismatic, and approachable personality who can quickly build rapport.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence and support employers and learners.
  • A driven, target-focused attitude balanced with a genuine interest in helping young people succeed.
  • Transferable experience from other business development or customer-facing roles is welcome.
  • Candidates should be reliable and demonstrate commitment.
**Realistic Earning of £50K+ with bonus**
