Business Improvement Apprenticeship Tutor

Are you passionate about helping professionals solve problems, refine systems and drive meaningful organisational change? Do you thrive on discussion-based learning, real-world improvement scenarios and supporting adults to build confidence in continuous improvement practices? If shaping the next generation of Business Improvement specialists sounds exciting, this role could be the perfect fit.

We’re partnering with a respected, values-led apprenticeship provider known for its exceptional quality, personalised learner experience and collaborative, supportive culture. With growing employer demand and a strong reputation in the improvement space, the organisation is expanding its team — and they’re now seeking an inspiring Business Improvement Tutor/Coach to deliver programmes up to Level 6.

Main Purpose

This provider is proud of doing things properly — focusing on relationship-building, genuine learner progress and delivery that is thoughtful, rigorous and truly impactful.

Here’s what makes this role stand out:

Smaller caseloads for bigger impact

You’ll typically support around 40 learners, giving you the space to tailor sessions, build trust and truly understand each learner’s working environment.

A quality standard that surpasses sector norms

Detailed assessment feedback — often around 900–1,000 words — ensures learners feel genuinely supported as they stretch their analytical, problem-solving and improvement capabilities.

A reputation built on integrity

Employers return because they value high-quality feedback, personalised learning and consistent delivery — not marketing gimmicks.

A warm, collaborative culture

The team is welcoming, supportive and generous in sharing knowledge. New tutors receive coaching, shadowing and system training before taking on a full caseload.

A facilitation-first approach

Tutors are chosen for their ability to create dialogue, stimulate critical thinking and encourage learners to explore real challenges — not simply deliver slides.

Responsibilities

This is a varied, rewarding role where you’ll help apprentices master business improvement tools, methodologies and practical application across a range of organisational settings.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering engaging online teaching and coaching sessions, supporting learners to build practical problem-solving and process improvement skills.
  • Facilitating group workshops, often exploring real workplace issues and collaborative solution design.
  • Providing high-quality written and verbal feedback, offering depth and clarity that helps learners grow.
  • Conducting assessments and workplace observations, ensuring learners demonstrate competence in Lean/Six Sigma methodology.
  • Carrying out structured progress reviews, involving both learners and their employers.
  • Managing accurate documentation, ensuring learners remain on track for successful gateway and EPA achievement.
  • Travelling quarterly for face-to-face review sessions, plus occasional learner visits across England — with mileage reimbursed at 45p per mile.

Sessions are typically monthly but flex depending on learner and employer needs. Some tutors choose to run small-group workshops and may work with up to 10 learners in a single day — offering variety, pace and the opportunity to create a strong learning community.

Who this role suits

You’ll be a strong match if you:

  • Hold a relevant Business Improvement qualification up to Level 5 or Level 6 (e.g., Black Belt, Master Black Belt, Lean Six Sigma).
  • Have applied continuous improvement methodologies in real organisational settings.
  • Hold a teaching or assessing qualification (e.g., CAVA, TAQA, A1, PTLLS, PGCE).
  • Enjoy facilitating discussion-based sessions and helping adults develop confidence and professional capability.
  • Are comfortable working remotely while managing your own diary.
  • Are motivated by helping learners embed improvement techniques in their day-to-day work.

Whether you're an experienced tutor or a seasoned improvement specialist ready to transition into coaching and development, you’ll be supported to thrive.
