Lead Childcare Apprenticeship Assessor

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Childcare Assessor to join a professional and supportive training organisation that specialises in delivering high-quality apprenticeship programmes. This organisation is passionate about empowering learners, supporting employers, and helping the next generation of childcare professionals to flourish. 


This role will primarily be working as an assessor, however some additional responsibility will be required to support with leadership in London.

With strong values built on professionalism, accountability and learner-centred delivery, this provider works in partnership with nurseries, schools, and early years settings to ensure apprentices receive the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to thrive in the sector.


This position is ideally suited to someone based in West London. Applications are welcome from those in surrounding areas.

Main Purpose

As a Childcare Assessor, you will deliver and support apprenticeship programmes within the Childcare sector. You will work with learners in the classroom, workplace and remotely, ensuring they remain on track and motivated to achieve their qualifications. The role requires someone who can inspire, challenge and mentor apprentices, while also maintaining high levels of compliance and quality in line with funding and audit requirements.

This role is about more than simply assessing; it is about shaping the future of childcare professionals, ensuring every learner feels supported, guided, and motivated throughout their journey.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver and facilitate engaging classroom-based, workshop and one-to-one sessions with childcare apprentices.
  • Mentor and support learners to achieve their qualifications while developing essential professional and workplace skills.
  • Monitor learner progress, carry out structured reviews, and ensure all reporting deadlines are met.
  • Mark assessments, provide feedback, and adapt learning approaches to meet individual needs.
  • Promote a positive safeguarding culture, remaining vigilant and proactive in responding to any concerns.
  • Ensure high levels of learner retention and achievement, with a target of at least 85% completion.
  • Keep accurate, compliant records in line with funding and quality assurance requirements.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, attend team meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of provision.
  • Stay up to date with changes in apprenticeship standards, frameworks and assessment processes.

Person Specification

  • Previous experience delivering or assessing Childcare apprenticeships (Early Years Educator experience highly desirable).
  • Strong understanding of the Childcare and Early Years sector, with the ability to share industry knowledge and insight.
  • Recognised Assessor qualification (such as CAVA, A1 or D32/D33) – desirable.
  • Teaching qualification (PTLLS, AET or equivalent) – desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate learners.
  • Well organised, with the ability to manage a caseload and maintain accurate records.
  • Passionate about supporting learners and committed to safeguarding, equality and diversity.
  • Flexible approach to travel across London.
