Electrical Assessor

Are you an experienced electrician who enjoys sharing your skills, mentoring others, and seeing people succeed? This role gives you the chance to step away from the tools (or reduce time on them) while still using your technical expertise every single day.

We’re looking for an On-Site Electrical Assessor to join a well-respected training provider that’s shaping the next generation of electricians. You’ll work closely with apprentices, guiding them through their training and ensuring they meet industry and qualification standards.

Main Purpose

This is a role where you can genuinely make a difference — helping learners to grow in confidence, pass their assessments, and move into successful careers.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Planning, organising, and carrying out workplace assessments for electrical apprentices across multiple sites, including Burgess Hill and Portsmouth.
  • Checking and signing off portfolio evidence, making sure it meets all awarding body and apprenticeship standard requirements.
  • Building positive relationships with learners and employers, offering guidance, support, and encouragement throughout the journey.
  • Providing clear, constructive feedback so learners know exactly how they’re progressing — and what they need to work on.
  • Working with employers to arrange suitable work placements when needed.
  • Keeping accurate records of learner progress, spotting any risks to completion early.
  • Ensuring all work meets Health & Safety and safeguarding standards.
  • Attending team and standardisation meetings, sharing ideas and helping to improve processes.

What We’re Looking For

You’ll have a solid background in the electrical industry and be able to relate to the challenges apprentices face — because you’ve been there yourself. You’ll have the ability to inspire others, explain technical concepts clearly, and keep learners motivated even when things get tough.

Essential:

  • Relevant and up-to-date electrical industry qualifications.
  • At least 3 years’ experience working in the electrical sector.
  • Assessor qualification (A1, L3 TAQA or equivalent).
  • Good understanding of apprenticeship delivery standards, Ofsted expectations, and compliance requirements.

Desirable:

  • 5+ years’ experience, ideally covering both domestic and commercial work.
  • Previous experience delivering or assessing apprenticeship programmes.

Why You’ll Love This Role

Make a real impact – your input will directly help apprentices qualify and succeed in their careers.

Variety – no two days are the same; you’ll be meeting different learners, visiting different workplaces, and solving different challenges.

Supportive team – work alongside experienced trainers and assessors who are passionate about quality and learner success.

Professional development – ongoing training and opportunities to upskill in both technical and teaching areas.

Work-life balance – full-time hours, Monday to Friday, with a mix of centre-based and on-site work.

If you’re ready to use your industry expertise to help shape the future of the electrical trade, we’d love to hear from you.

Apply today and take the next step in your career — from being on the tools to inspiring the next generation to pick them up.
