Electrical Installation Tutor

Are you an experienced electrician ready to take your career in a new direction—one where you can share your expertise, inspire others, and play a vital role in shaping the future of the electrical industry?

A fast-growing and ambitious training provider is looking for an Electrical Installation Tutor to join their expanding team. With significant demand for skilled trades and apprenticeship training, this organisation is on a mission to develop the next generation of highly skilled electricians across the UK.

This is more than just a teaching role. It’s an opportunity to influence careers, develop industry talent, and be part of a training provider that is investing heavily in the future of technical education.

If you’re passionate about your trade and enjoy helping others succeed, this role offers the chance to move into education while staying closely connected to the industry you know and love.

Demand for skilled electricians continues to grow across the UK, and high-quality training is essential to ensure the next generation enters the industry with the knowledge, professionalism, and technical competence required to succeed.

In this role, you’ll deliver City & Guilds Level 3 Electrical Installation training, helping learners develop advanced knowledge in electrical science, installation practices, inspection and testing, and fault finding.

You’ll be working with motivated learners who are starting or progressing in their careers, supporting them through the transition from foundational knowledge to the more advanced technical understanding required at Level 3.

Your industry experience will bring learning to life, enabling learners to understand not just the theory, but how it applies in real-world environments.

Alongside delivery, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to curriculum development, help shape innovative training programmes, and work with a team that values fresh ideas and continuous improvement.

Main Purpose

As an Electrical Installation Tutor, your role will combine technical expertise with engaging teaching to ensure learners receive a high-quality and inspiring learning experience.

Responsibilities

Delivering Outstanding Training

  • Deliver engaging theory and practical training sessions for City & Guilds Level 3 electrical qualifications
  • Teach advanced topics including electrical design principles, fault diagnosis, advanced circuitry, and compliance with BS 7671
  • Bring technical concepts to life through real-world industry examples
  • Support learners to develop strong technical knowledge alongside professional workplace behaviours

Assessment & Quality

  • Prepare learners for City & Guilds online exams, practical assessments, and final competency tests
  • Conduct assessments including practical performance tasks and portfolio reviews
  • Provide detailed, constructive feedback to help learners improve and progress
  • Maintain accurate and compliant records to support internal and external quality assurance processes

Learner Development

  • Guide learners through complex technical concepts and help build their confidence
  • Support apprentices transitioning from Level 2 to Level 3 standards
  • Encourage professionalism, strong working standards, and a safety-first mindset
  • Identify learning needs and provide tailored support to ensure every learner can succeed

Professional Contribution

  • Keep up to date with the latest BS 7671 regulations and industry developments
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to share best practice
  • Contribute ideas towards developing new courses and improving existing programmes
  • Support the organisation’s mission to deliver exceptional training in the skilled trades sector

We’re looking for someone who combines strong industry knowledge with a genuine desire to help others succeed.

You may already be working as a tutor, or you could be an experienced electrician ready to take your first step into education.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Level 3 Electrotechnical qualification (NVQ or equivalent) including AM2
  • Significant experience working as a qualified electrician in industry
  • An 18th Edition qualification (or willingness to obtain with support)
  • A teaching qualification such as AET, CertEd or PGCE, or willingness to work towards one
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex ideas clearly
  • A passion for supporting learners and helping them achieve their career goals

Don’t worry if you haven’t taught before—many of the best tutors come straight from industry. If you bring the right expertise and attitude, training and support can be provided to help you become an exceptional educator.

This training provider is building something exciting. With strong industry demand, a growing learner base, and ambitious plans for the future, it’s an organisation where innovation, energy, and ideas are welcomed.

You’ll join a team that values collaboration, professional development, and creating meaningful career opportunities for both staff and learners.

Electricians are essential to the future of the UK’s infrastructure, energy systems, and construction industry.

By becoming an Electrical Installation Tutor, you’ll play a crucial role in developing the skilled professionals who will power homes, businesses, and communities for years to come.

Few roles offer the opportunity to combine technical expertise, mentoring, and real social impact in quite the same way.

If you’re ready to use your experience to inspire, educate, and shape the next generation of electricians, we’d love to hear from you.
