Electrical Training Officer

Are you ready to step into a role where your experience truly matters?

This is an opportunity to join a well-established, highly respected electrical training provider with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, industry-led apprenticeships. With continued growth and a thriving learner community, they are now looking to expand their team with an additional Electrical Training Officer / Assessor.

Whether you’re an experienced assessor or a skilled electrician considering a move away from the tools, this role offers the chance to build a rewarding career where you can inspire, mentor, and develop the next generation of electricians.

This isn’t just about assessments and paperwork—it’s about people.

You’ll play a vital role in shaping careers, building confidence, and supporting learners as they navigate their journey through apprenticeship training. Every day brings something different: from visiting sites and seeing real-world electrical work in action, to coaching apprentices through challenges and celebrating their progress.

You’ll be part of a supportive, forward-thinking team that genuinely cares about the quality of education and the success of its learners. The organisation has built strong partnerships with employers across the UK, giving you exposure to a wide range of working environments and industry practices.

Main Purpose

In this role, you’ll become a trusted mentor and key point of contact for your own cohort of apprentices. You’ll guide them from day one through to completion, helping them grow not only in technical ability but also in confidence and professionalism.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting apprentices to build and complete their NVQ portfolios with confidence
  • Assessing workplace performance, practical skills, and evidence
  • Carrying out structured progress reviews every 10–12 weeks
  • Providing constructive feedback that drives improvement and motivation
  • Working closely with employers to ensure apprentices receive the best possible support
  • Travelling to workplaces across the UK to conduct assessments and reviews
  • Delivering assessments and support sessions at the training centre

This is a role where your expertise will directly influence outcomes—and where you’ll see the results of your work in the success of your learners.

You might already be working as an assessor and looking for a fresh environment where you can make a bigger impact.

Or, you could be an experienced electrician who’s ready for a new challenge—one that allows you to step away from the physical demands of the job while staying connected to the industry you enjoy.

Whichever path you’re coming from, what matters most is your passion for the trade and your desire to support others.

You’ll likely bring:

  • A Level 3 NVQ in Electrical Installation (or equivalent) and AM2
  • Strong, up-to-date industry knowledge
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A positive, approachable attitude with a genuine interest in developing others
  • Good organisational and IT skills

And ideally (but not essential):

  • Assessing qualifications (A1, TAQA, or equivalent)
  • 18th Edition and/or Test & Inspection qualifications
  • Previous experience in training or mentoring

If you don’t yet have assessing qualifications, full support and training can be provided—making this a fantastic opportunity to transition into education.

This organisation is passionate about creating a positive, inclusive learning environment where both staff and learners feel supported and valued.

Safeguarding and wellbeing are at the heart of everything they do, and you’ll be joining a team that takes pride in making a difference—not just in education, but in people’s lives.
