They work with both SMEs and large employers to develop practical, future-ready talent across mechanical, electrical, machining, and design disciplines.

They’re proud to offer an environment that’s professional yet friendly, values-driven but commercially aware, and built on long-standing partnerships with both learners and employers.

If you're seeking a place to teach where quality comes before quantity — and where your voice, ideas, and expertise are genuinely valued — you’ll find it here.

Main Purpose

As an Engineering Tutor – Machining, you’ll be responsible for delivering workshop and classroom-based training to apprentices and learners across machining disciplines. You’ll apply your knowledge of manual and CNC machining to develop learners’ practical and theoretical understanding, helping them progress through qualifications and apprenticeship standards.

Responsibilities

You’ll deliver around 24 hours of teaching per week, with one dedicated non-contact day for planning, marking, and administration. This non-teaching day can be completed remotely, offering greater flexibility and balance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and inclusive lessons in Milling, Turning, and CNC
  • Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and resources tailored to learner needs
  • Apply the full teaching cycle, supporting learners from induction to achievement
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety, and industrial practice within the workshop
  • Assess learners’ progress against qualification and apprenticeship standards
  • Work collaboratively with the wider delivery team to ensure learner success
  • Keep accurate records of attendance, progress, and outcomes in line with internal expectations
  • Actively support recruitment and open events as required
  • Contribute to internal quality assurance and Awarding Organisation requirements

Who We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Significant experience in a machining/engineering role (manual and CNC)
  • Teaching qualification (or willingness to gain one)
  • Passion for passing on knowledge in a learner-centred, inclusive way
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • DBS clearance (or willingness to complete one)
  • Knowledge of vocational qualifications and apprenticeship standards

Desirable:

  • Understanding of ESFA/OFSTED frameworks and funding requirements
  • Experience working in a teaching or assessor capacity within FE or training
  • Familiarity with Pearson, EAL or other awarding bodies
  • A creative and flexible approach to teaching different learner types

Why Join This Provider?

  • 4-day teaching week with 1 flexible admin day
  • Focus on quality over quantity — fewer hours, more impact
  • Genuine CPD and progression opportunities
  • Friendly, supportive team and excellent facilities
  • A stable, reputable provider with a long-standing employer network

You'll be supported by a strong leadership team who understand the challenges of delivery and prioritise tutor wellbeing, learner engagement, and long-term success.
