English & Maths Trainer (Part Time - 3 days a week)

Main Purpose

As an English & Maths Trainer, you’ll play a central role in helping learners of all backgrounds achieve their functional skills qualifications—improving their confidence, employability, and life chances. Working with adult learners and apprentices across the region, you’ll use a mix of 1:1 coaching, group sessions, and creative teaching strategies to inspire progress.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver English and Maths Functional Skills training (Entry Level to Level 2) in line with learner needs and programme requirements.
  • Support learners via 1:1 coaching, small group delivery, and employer-based sessions.
  • Manage a caseload of learners and support their progress, achievement, and motivation.
  • Conduct initial assessments and diagnostics to tailor delivery and identify gaps.
  • Liaise with employers, assessors, and other trainers to ensure learners remain engaged and on track.
  • Maintain accurate electronic and paper-based records of learner progress.
  • Adapt lesson plans and delivery methods to meet diverse learning styles and needs.
  • Keep up to date with qualification changes and ensure timely compliance with awarding body procedures.

Who We're Looking For:


Essential:

  • Experience delivering English and/or Maths Functional Skills (Entry Level to Level 2)
  • Minimum Level 2 English and Maths qualifications
  • Experience supporting a diverse range of learners, including those with additional support needs
  • Confident working independently across multiple sites
  • Excellent organisational, communication and ICT skills
  • Driving licence and access to own transport

Desirable:

  • Experience delivering GCSE English
  • Level 5 subject specialism in English
  • Recognised teaching qualification (minimum Level 4)
