Maths Lecturer

Educated Appointments are excited to be supporting an Ofsted rated 'GOOD' FE college to recruit a Maths Lecturer join their team based from the Cambridge Campus.

Our client boasts specialist vocational facilities in a range of areas from engineering, construction, science to catering, hospitality and hair and beauty.

Main Purpose

To provide high quality teaching and access to learning. It is expected that the post holder will contribute to course design, development of programmes and the expansion of the area generally.

To teach Functional Skills and GCSE Maths to learners on a Construction courses, with varying levels of ability and confidence from Entry Level to Level 2.


  • Deliver high quality teaching and learning, both face-to-face and online, to a timetable that may include evening and non-term times.
  • Deliver inspirational teaching and access to learning across a range of programmes.
  • Provide teaching and assessment opportunities in line with the relevant awarding body requirements to promote access to achievement.
  • Prepare and adapt teaching materials including handouts, assignments, booklists and assessment papers, to enable all learners to progress.
  • Prepare Schemes of Work and Schemes of Assessment.
  • Undertake the necessary administrative tasks required for the effective operation of programmes in the area.
  • Carry out moderation/ assessment and verification.
  • Contribute to the College quality cycle.
  • Integrate personal development themes and behaviour and attitude themes into the delivery model.
  • Interview and assess students, ensuring appropriate ILPs are developed for all learners.
  • Meet study support procedures and ensure all study support paperwork is completed. accurately, timely and returned to MIS for audit and funding claims.
  • Track and review student progress and maintain student records using Markbook and Promonitor.
  • Provide feedback on progress to the student in 1:1 meetings.
  • Arrange and support progression/career guidance of students.

Personal Specification

  • A degree in Mathematics or a related field.
  • Teaching qualification (desirable).
  • Experience teaching Functional Skills and GCSE Maths.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students of varying abilities.
  • Experience in course design and development is desirable.

£27,425 - £40,369 (Dependent on experience)
