MIS & Funding Manager

We are proud to be partnering with one of East Yorkshire’s most respected engineering training providers. For over 50 years, this not-for-profit organisation has built a reputation for excellence, delivering high-quality apprenticeships and skills training that support learners, employers, and the local economy.

Operating from multiple sites across East Yorkshire, the organisation offers engineering-focused programmes and technical qualifications to both young people and adult learners. With state-of-the-art facilities, strong employer links, and a clear commitment to safeguarding and learner success, they continue to grow and innovate within the training and education sector.

If you're seeking a role where your MIS and funding expertise can directly support a mission to shape the engineers of tomorrow, this could be the perfect fit.

Main Purpose

As MIS & Funding Manager, you will be the driving force behind the organisation’s funding compliance, audit preparation, and data integrity. You’ll lead the MIS function to ensure learner records are accurate, ILRs are submitted correctly and on time, and all internal and external data reporting is watertight.

You will act as the central point of contact for external bodies, including the ESFA, and support internal teams—from delivery to finance—to ensure funding compliance and maximise revenue.

This is a pivotal position in a friendly, supportive, and high-performing team where no two days are the same, and your impact will be widely felt.

Responsibilities

MIS Management:

  • Oversee the day-to-day running of the MIS function across multiple sites.
  • Ensure all learner data is captured, validated, and maintained in line with ESFA and DfE funding rules.
  • Lead on the submission of the Individualised Learner Record (ILR), ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Manage system transitions and enhancements (e.g. PICS, Maytas, Aptem) to support efficiency and compliance.
  • Develop internal reporting dashboards to support SLT with funding forecasts and performance insight

Funding & Compliance:

  • Monitor all government-funded programmes including apprenticeships and 16-19 provision.
  • Use tools such as PDSAT and FRM reports to identify and address funding risks and errors.
  • Ensure full audit readiness for Ofsted and ESFA, managing internal reviews and documentation trails.
  • Lead on funding reconciliations, risk assessments, and submission schedules.
  • Communicate funding rule changes to the wider business and advise on their operational impact.

Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Support and line-manage MIS staff (as applicable).
  • Provide training and guidance to delivery, curriculum, and administrative teams on MIS and compliance processes.
  • Work cross-functionally with finance, quality, and senior leadership to align funding strategy with learner outcomes.
  • Be the key liaison for funding bodies, auditors, and external partners.

What We’re Looking For:

Essential:

  • GCSE Grade C or above in English and Maths (or equivalent).
  • Significant experience in managing ILR data and ESFA funding streams.
  • Working knowledge of apprenticeship and 16–19 Study Programme funding rules.
  • Experience with MIS systems such as PICS, Maytas, Aptem, or similar.
  • Confident in managing audits, producing reports, and advising on funding compliance.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across sites in East Yorkshire

Desirable:

  • Experience overseeing MIS system transitions or implementation projects.
  • Understanding of Ofsted EIF and related quality frameworks.
  • Prior experience in the engineering or technical training sector.

This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a leadership role where your MIS expertise will help shape the future of technical education in the region.
