Welding Instructor

Are you an experienced welding professional ready for a new challenge — one where your skills genuinely make a difference?

This is an opportunity to step into a practical, hands-on instructor role, helping to shape the next generation of engineers while working for a well-established, values-led training organisation with a strong reputation in the engineering and manufacturing sector.

You don’t need to be a qualified teacher already. If you bring solid industry experience, a passion for sharing your knowledge, and pride in your craft, you’ll be fully supported to transition into education.

Main Purpose

This is not a classroom-heavy, paperwork-driven teaching post. It’s a workshop-based role where your real-world experience is valued, respected, and passed on. You’ll work closely with apprentices and learners, helping them build confidence, competence, and professional standards that employers genuinely want.

You’ll also be joining an organisation that invests heavily in its people — supporting qualifications, career development, and long-term progression.

Responsibilities

What you’ll be doing

  • Delivering high-quality practical welding training in a workshop environment
  • Supporting apprentices and learners to develop technical skill, confidence, and safe working practices
  • Using your industry experience to bring learning to life
  • Working across two well-equipped training centres in Hull and Grimsby
  • Playing a meaningful role in developing future engineering talent

What we’re looking for

  • Strong, hands-on experience in welding (with knowledge of related disciplines such as pipe fitting, plating, or sheet metal an advantage)
  • Relevant craft or trade qualifications (or equivalent industry background)
  • A commitment to high standards of health & safety
  • A positive, encouraging approach to supporting learners
  • A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle (regular travel between Hull and Grimsby is essential)

Teaching or assessing qualifications are not required — full support and funded training will be provided if you don’t already have them.

The benefits

  • 42 days annual leave (including bank holidays)
  • Christmas shutdown period
  • Annual performance-related bonus
  • Generous pension (7% employer contribution)
  • Life insurance (4x salary)
  • Private healthcare (after qualifying period)
  • Free on-site parking
  • Branded workwear
  • Long-term stability within a supportive, people-focused organisation

The bigger picture

This organisation is deeply committed to apprenticeships, skills development, and safeguarding. You’ll be joining a diverse, inclusive workplace where colleagues are supported, respected, and encouraged to grow — professionally and personally.

If you’re ready to take your industry experience in a new, rewarding direction, this could be the role that changes your career.
